This hospital is a rich example of Edwardian Castellated Architecture. It was completed in 1901 and was locally known as the Wedgewood Castle because of its distinctive blue. It caters for the health needs of the services in Gibraltar. During the Falklands crisis, the liner Canberra made a brief stop at Gibraltar to collect specialised medical personnel from the hospital.
