>The theatre is situated in Governor's Parade, and was inaugurated on the 10th May 1847 with Verdi's opera "Nabucodonosor". Since that time, the theatre fell into a state of dilapidation and is presently scheduled to be reconstructed although works have been stopped for a number of years.
